Because the digital world is "new" and evolving daily, your Curriculum Vitae (resume) online develops very differently than a portfolio of schoolwork that you store in a desk--manila folder, stapled essays, handwritten comments from teachers on tests. Did your parents keep your papers from grade school? Chances are they did. Well, since the first day you appeared on the scene on the day of your birth, you have been creating an Electronic Portfolio (whether or not you thought about it) of every digital experience you have ever had. It is time to begin managing it. The Internet remembers everything about you. I choose to think it is cool: the internet knows I am Leslie Healey and it also knows I am Healigan. Better yet, it reliably connects me with my family, work, my ideas, my writing, what I think is beautiful, fun, intriguing or frustrating. So, the internet stores it, but I should be the one to manage it and track my own progress. This project is meant to be a beginning, an entry-level review of your own digital life.

How does Amazon.com know what kind of videos you might buy? Have you ever been fingerprinted? What is a Google alert? What games do you play online? What pops up about you if you google St Marks + your name? Have you posted to this wiki or our blog this year? Are you addicted to perezhilton.com? Do you comment on online blog posts or news sites? (Sometimes you have to register with a site to comment, which means they track you.)
